BIPS wins GLOHRA Prize for Global Health Research

The Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS, together with its partners from Ulm, Hanover, and Pakistan, has won the prestigious GLOHRA Prize for Global Health Research 2025. The award was given to the WellPak project, which promotes the community-based integration of a digital intervention to improve mental health in Pakistan.

Delighted with the award: Dr. Maham Saleem (third from left) and Prof. Dr. Hajo Zeeb (fourth from left) from BIPS.

The prize is awarded by the German Alliance for Global Health Research (GLOHRA) to recognize outstanding contributions to global health research. WellPak has developed a digital intervention to support mental health in Pakistan and implemented it in collaboration with community health workers. Its goal is to bring culturally appropriate, easily accessible psychological support to regions where there is a shortage of specialized professionals. The project was particularly impressive for its focus on equal partnerships, strengthening local structures, and the sustainable implementation of digital health solutions.

The award was presented as part of GLOHRA Day 2025. GLOHRA brings together over 1,200 researchers from a wide range of disciplines to solve global health issues together and across borders.

We are delighted to receive this award and would like to thank everyone involved in the project for their commitment!
